Dreams of Winder

Dreams of Winder is an award-winning theatrical production written and directed by Dulan Weerasinghe. Set during the aftermath of the Second World War, the story follows eight children who are sheltered in Winder House — a place meant to protect them, yet shadowed by loneliness, harsh discipline, and the longing for love. Through music, movement, and emotional storytelling, the play explores how children hold on to hope even in the hardest of times.

The production received 11 awards at the 25th State Children’s Drama Festival 2024, including Best Production of the Year (English), Best Choreography, Best Set Design, Best Actor, and multiple performance recognitions. It also proudly represented Sri Lanka at the Kolkata International Children’s Theatre Festival, gaining international appreciation.

Dreams of Winder is a touching reminder that even in moments of loss, children continue to dream — and those dreams have the power to heal.
